Théophile Soyer Furniture

Théophile Soyer attended the classes of Yvon and Levasseur and began at the Salon of 1870 with the enamel copy of a work by Le Barbier aîné. He then exhibited regularly from 1875 to 1882. He was married in 1879 to Léa, born Dejoux, nicknamed Lucie, a student of Lamunière. He won a silver medal at the 1889 “World's Fair” and a gold medal in 1900. He was president of the Eclectic Society, a humorous society founded in 1872 and vice-president of the Union's Chamber of Ceramics and Glass.

A long mid century bookcase made of walnut veneer. The cabinet has three aluminum painted panels with fishes. Created and signed and dated (1966) by Hubert Minnebo (Belgium, 1940). The cabinet has 3 doors. Left and right are glass sliding doors. The cabinet has onea key, which fits on all three doors. The condition is good, except for a few missing pieces of wood veneer. The video shows the veneer flaws. The painted panels are made of anodized aluminum. It is a technique that aluminum is anodized, the aluminium panel can absorb aniline color pigments; these are color pigments that are dissolved in acetone or dimethyl formamide. This requires smooth work, comparable to painting a fresco, where correction of errors is not possible. Minnebo also made this panels aluminum panels for reception halls and house facades and as decoration in restaurants and stations. His work is refined with a controlled use of colours.
